Student Comps Ltd is a Northern Ireland-based business providing skill-based Competitions that result in the awarding of Prizes that greatly appeal to students here in the United Kingdom but can ultimately be won by anyone who wishes to enter.

Key Definitions

Promoter:

Student Comps Ltd whose Company Number is: NI675624.

Competition:

The Promoter may, and often will run more than one competition at the same time where each competition will be assigned a single prize unless otherwise specified.

Entrant:

An individual person who enters any of the competitions stated on the Promoters website or through the free-entry postal method.

Winner: 

Any entrant who is chosen at random and named the winner of the competition they entered. They will receive the prize(s) assigned to the competition they entered upon satisfying these Terms and Conditions. 

Question:

The skill-based question that all entrants must answer correctly in order to have their entry successfully entered into the competition draw. This is essential for Entrants to satisfy if they wish to have a chance at winning the competition(s) they may enter. 

General  

1.1. All Entrants to any Competition listed on this website, whether they enter via the website or the free-entry postal method, are deemed, by the Promoter, to have fully read, understood and accepted all of the Terms and Conditions stated on this page, therefore further agreeing to be legally bound by such Terms and Conditions.

1.2. All valid persons must provide any personal contact details required by the Promoter upon entry of any Competition. These details will include the Entrants email address and mobile phone number and, in some cases, additional details.

1.3. The personal contact details provided by all Entrants upon entry of any Competition or through signing up to the Website, are required as to comply with the Privacy Policy and will also be required for the Promoter to contact Entrants if they are to win any of the Competition they may enter.

1.4. The Promoter is in no way responsible for compensating Entrants in any way, who fail to provide personal contact that details that are entirely correct, up to date and legible.

2.1. The Promoter is Student Comps Ltd, trading under the name “Student Comps” with Company Number: NI675624 whose registered address is 716 Clonmeen, Craigavon, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, BT65 4AY.

2.3. The Promoter, Student Comps, are exempt from holding any form of responsibility in the case of entries, paid or postal, which do not successfully make their way to the Promoter. This is further outlined in Section 12.

3.1.  Both the Entrant and the Promoter understand and accept the fact that the Promoter will likely make use of the contact information and sensitive personal data provided by the Entrant in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 as to allow the Promoter to successfully operate this Website and hold Competitions, all of which is in line with these Terms and Conditions.

  1. The Competition 

4.1. All Competitions provided on this website are also operated by the Promoter.

4.2. The following Terms and Conditions that are stated on this page apply to all of the Competitions found on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk

4.3. To qualify for the chance to win any of the Competitions, anyone deemed eligible to enter a Competition must correctly answer a skill-based question or solve a problem that is set by the Promoter.

4.4. All Competitions listed on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk are skill-based Competitions, each of which incurs an entry fee that is payable, by the Entrant, per every Competition that they wish to enter.

4.5. The Promoter withholds the right to extend any Competition by a maximum period of 14 days after the Competition has reached its stated end date and time, as displayed on the page of every Competition.

  1. How to Enter a Competition

5.1. Entrants may enter Competitions via the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk, where each Competition will be assigned a specific Prize.

5.2. To enter a Competition via the Promoters website, Entrants must create an account that comes at no cost, or, if already signed up, sign in to their account and proceed to select how many tickets they require, granted the quantity is below that of the maximum number of allowed entries which is 10.

5.3. At any time, the Promoter may hold concurrent Competitions on its website.

5.4. All Entrants deemed eligible to play any Competition listed on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk must follow the on-screen instructions and rules that they will be prompted with upon entering.

  1. Select the competition you wish to enter.
  2. You must answer the skill-based question you are prompted with or else you cannot enter.
  3. Select the number of tickets you want.
  4. Click the “Enter” button.5. Login to your account or create one if you haven’t already.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions for checking out and paying for your ticket(s).

5.5. All information for each Competition listed, this includes but may not be limited to, availableness, price to enter, description, maximum entries, time remaining and the number of entries remaining is provided at the liberty of the Promoter and can be found on the Competition’s respective entry page.

5.6. No Entrants are required to pay to enter any Competition found on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk as all Competitions are provided with a free-entry route, which is fully detailed below, under “10. Free Entry Method”. All Competitions on this website do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Gambling Act 2006 and are therefore not deemed a lottery and can be operated legally in the United Kingdom without a license being required by the Promoter.

5.7. Any postal entry received via the free-entry method will automatically have the same chances of successfully winning a Competition and will face no form of disadvantage.

5.8. All Entrants who wish to enter via the free-entry postal route can enter using this method as many times as they please, granted the quantity is below or equal to that of the stated maximum number of entries which is 10 and that they adhere to the additional points made in Section 10 of the Terms and Conditions.

5.9. If it is necessary, the Promoter can, at their will, alter the period during which a particular Competition may be running within.

5.10. It is absolutely necessary that all entries, free or paid, are received by the Promoter before the date and time on which the Competition is scheduled to conclude on. In the case of an entry/entries being received beyond the point of any Competitions stated end date and time, such entries will be automatically deemed invalid, with no refund provided to the Entrant.

5.11. All Entrants who are deemed eligible by these Terms and Conditions, and who successfully enter any Competition listed on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk, either via the paid entry or free-entry postal route, are deeming themselves bound to the Terms and Conditions stated on this page.

  1. Choosing a Winner

6.1. To be successfully included in the draw of any Competition, Entrants must correctly answer the skill-based Competition question that they are prompted with during the process of them selecting their ticket(s).

6.2. Upon any Competition on this website reaching its stated end date and time, all of those who successfully entered will be automatically entered into the Competitions respective draw list, in the form of a spreadsheet, which will contain all Entrants and their corresponding numbers. Entry lists for each competition can be found on the Promoters website.

6.3. A Winner will be randomly selected using the Google Random Number Generator, found here, for each Competition that is run, from its corresponding spreadsheet of successful Entrants. Winners can only be selected if they fulfil criteria 6.1 and 6.2.

6.4. For clarity purposes, every draw will be live-streamed on Facebook with the corresponding draw list provided before the draw.

6.5. Competition draw dates, times and any other information relevant to the Competition are displayed on the website along with any related social media sites the Promoter may make use of when the Competition has reached the Competitions stated end date and time.

6.6. Every Competition that is run on the website is only eligible to have a singular Winner unless otherwise specified by the Promoter prior to a Competitions conclusion.

6.7. Competition Winners will be contacted directly by the Promoter using the contact details provided on either the Entrants account or the Entrants postcard.

6.8. If the Winner cannot be contacted by the Promoter upon the drawing of a Prize, they will have a 14-day Winner’s timeframe to contact the Promoter and claim their Prize.

6.9. The Promoter withholds all right to select a new, additional Winner to receive the Prize if the original Winner does not contact the Promoter within the given 14-day Winner’s timeframe.

6.10. Competition Winners are final without appeal unless the state of the Competition is to fall under Sections 6.8 and 6.9 and the Winner fails to claim their Prize within the 14-day Winner’s timeframe and a new, secondary Winner has to be allocated by the Promoter.

  1. Eligibility

7.1. All Competitions found on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk, are open to all residents of the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland) and the Republic of Ireland, granted they are 18 or over, not an employee of Student Comps, in no way, directly or indirectly affiliated with the Promoter on a professional basis or related to any employees of Student Comps.

  1. Conclusion of Competition 

8.1. If the stated number of entries for a Competition does not manage to reach the stated maximum number of entries before the Competition reaches its end time and date, the Competition may still conclude with a Winner drawn and a Prize awarded, if and only if the Promoter deems there to be a sufficient amount of proceeds to allow so.

8.2. If 8.1 cannot be fulfilled, a set proportion of 70% of the Competition funds will be awarded to the Winner as a cash alternative Prize. The remaining 30% of the Competition funds will go to the Promoter and will be used towards any form of administration costs.

8.3. The set proportion of Competition funds for the Winner, which is 70%, will be calculated with and dependant on external financial factors such as general maintenance, taxation, charitable donations and prize cost. These factors, amongst others that may be relevant, will be applied to the amount of funds allocated first, with the remainder being allocated to the Winner.

  1. Competition Prizes

9.1. A full breakdown of every Prize will be found on the corresponding Competition page of each Prize. The breakdown will include Prize name, Prize description and Prize photos.

9.2. No form of Prize alternative, such as cash, can be provided to Winners unless otherwise specified by the Promoter.

9.3. All Prizes will be, unless otherwise specified, delivered to the Competition Winner free of charge granted they fulfil the criteria found in Section 7: “Eligibility”.

9.4. Winners must provide proof of their identity before their Prize is dispatched to their delivery address. This form of identity must be a valid government-approved form of identification, with their full name and date of birth matching the details found either on their account or their postal entry.

9.5. Upon handing over a Prize to the Winner, the Promoter is, at this point, no longer the owner of the Prize and is therefore no longer responsible, in any way, for the worthiness, functionality, quality or worth of the Prize.

9.6. All Competition Prizes delivered to Winners will come as absolutely new and sealed in their original packaging unless otherwise specified by the Promoter.

9.7. Competition Prizes may be, and often will be, sourced from a third-party supplier. If this is the case, all information relevant to the third-party supplier will be provided clearly and concisely along with the standard information provided with all Competitions.

9.8. The Promoter is the sole owner of any Prize until successfully handed over to a Winner, granted Section 7 is successfully fulfilled.

9.9. If the Prize is a cash Prize, it will be directly transferred, free of tax, to the Winner via secure bank transfer.

  1. Free Entry Method

10.1. As stated in Section 5.6, all Competitions found on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk can be entered via the free-entry postal method.

10.2. All Entrants using the free-entry postal method must already have an account registered with the Promoter.

10.3. If Entrants wish to enter any Competition via the method stated in Section 10.1, they must send an unenclosed postcard which contains all of the following information:

10.3.2. The correct answer to the skill-based Competition question for the Competition they wish to enter

10.3.4. Entrants Address

10.3.5. Entrants Date of Birth

10.3.6. Entrants Contact Number

10.3.7. Entrants Email Address

10.4. Entrants who wish to use the free-entry postal method must adhere to Section 5.8 and must send their entries separately as bulk entries will be considered invalid by the Promoter.

10.5. Entries made via the free-entry postal method must be sent to the following address:

10.6. If any of the information on the Entrant’s postcard, required of them by the Promoter in Section 10.3, is illegible, the entry will not be considered in the draw and will be automatically deemed invalid by the Promoter.

10.7. All entries made via the free-entry postal method must be received 3 days before the Competition reaches its stated end time and date in order to be counted in the draw.

10.8. Entrants who wish to use the free-entry postal method must take strong consideration of the length of time left on the Competition they are entering, further ensuring their postcard is posted with enough time for it to arrive 2 days before the Competition reaches its stated end time and date. These times and dates are presented at all times on every Competition found on the Promoters website.

10.9. The Promoter will not take any form of responsibility for any entry made via the free-entry postal method that is lost during its transit between the Entrant and the Promoter, regardless of the cause of loss.

10.10. If an entry made via the free-entry postal method is received after a Competition has reached the maximum number of entries, it will not be entered into the draw and will be automatically deemed invalid.

10.11. In the case of the Promoter receiving a valid entry made via the free-entry postal method, the Promoter will email the Entrant with their entry number(s) for the Competition specified on their postcard, granted they have fulfilled the criteria specified in 10.3.

10.12. All entries made via the free-entry postal method are subject to all of the Terms and Conditions stated on this page just as paid entries are.

10.13. The Entrants full name found on the postcard of any entry made via the free-entry postal method must match the full name found on the Entrants account on the Promoters website: www.studentcomps.co.uk.

  1. Data Protection

11.1. Upon entering any Competition on this website, the Entrant agrees to the personal information they provide through entering such competitions, may be stored and used by the Promoter or by anyone with a professional link to the Promoter, be it direct or indirect.

11.2. As per 11.1., all personal information provided to the Promoter, by the Entrant, is authorised to be stored into the Promoters database in strict accordance with the rules set out in the Data Protection Act 1998.

  1. Limitations of Liability

12.1. The Promoter, Student Comps, does not provide any form of guarantee regarding the quality of any prizes that it may give away in any of its Competitions. Liability will lie strictly with the Promoter; Student Comps, only in the case of injury and/or death which was due to the Promoters intentional misconduct and/or intentional violation of the law. Notwithstanding anything stated within these Terms and Conditions to the contrary, the Promoter; Student Comps and the Entrant, both agree that the Promoter will be exempt from accountability for any loss or damages that any persons and/or properties may be exposed to, be it indirect, incidental, special or consequential in, but not strictly limited to, profits, goods or services, regardless of whether or not the Entrant has been informed, or in the case of the Entrant anticipating this loss or damage on their behalf. Upon Entrants reading, understanding and agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, Entrants agree to reasonably limit the Promoters liability which may arise from the Promoter following their professional responsibilities and obligations, errors or omissions.

  1. Additional Information

13.1. The Promoter holds all right to exclude you from any Competitions held on this website if it holds a reasonable belief that you may be directly or indirectly attempting to circumvent the Terms and Conditions stated on this page, in any way.

13.2. The Terms and Conditions found on this page are subject to and governed by the laws of Northern Ireland and in the case of any dispute that arises from the Promoter or any Competition it may provide, jurisdiction will sit ultimately with the courts of Northern Ireland.

13.3. All Winners agree that the Promoter maintains the right to display their name on the Promoters website (and Facebook page if applicable) in line with the Privacy Policy.

13.4. If any Winner objects to their name being publicly displayed, please contact the Promoter at contact@studentcomps.co.uk.

13.5. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, Winners also agree to them being photographed, by the Promoter or themselves, with their prize(s) for promotional and transparency purposes, unless the Winner specifically requests not to be.

13.6. If an Entrant is found to be, directly or indirectly, in breach of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and is engaging in any form of wrongdoing which may provide them with any type of advantage over other Entrants during any Competition, their entries will be automatically declared invalid without the chance to appeal.

13.7. In the case of a failure related to either hardware, software, servers or any other form of technological failure, the Promoter will not be held responsible for the loss or incorrect assignment of any entries as a result of these failures and therefore holds the ability to reclaim a prize if it happens to be awarded to the wrong person due to the aforementioned and subsequently award it to the correct person.

13.8. The Promoter is in no way liable if an Entrant is to unlawfully enter any Competition found on this site, be it against the laws of the Entrants country of residence.

13.9. The Promoter holds the right to make changes to the Terms and Conditions found on this page, at any time. Any changes made by the Promoter will be added to this page immediately.
